The Chemical Generation

A megalomaniacal chemical generation

From the free spirit of the then chemical generation

With just a word in common

With absolutely no thought in common

Freedom they spoke

Freedom we cried

But light-years between the two

Uncertain were the times

Renegation became the air

The fight was on

Young were the ideologies

Now was in sync with only now

No past, no future

Just the uncertain now

Slowly fading into the blissful reality

Eager eyes and open minds

And the ideas they flow

New thoughts, stranger philosophies

Problems came

And with them their solutions

The patternised now

With more focus on the future

With more records of the past

And the illusion of time still prevails

Have a problem?

Know your neighbor first

Ask him later

A land of strangers and foes

All we see is hatred and animosity

Whatever happened to humanity?

Love thy neighbor, they said

Yet do not trust them, they say

Have a gun, they say

And then urge us to pray for peace

The white doves are free to fly

Their numbers ever depleting

Oh! We forgot everything about hunting

Shoot to thrill and learn self defense

But what are we ourselves defending from

Now I see the reasons for more suicides

All we do well is talk

Talk about past invasions

Talk about future developments

With surplus money flowing into wars

Kill ‘em all is the slogan

The picture is hazy

This is no purple haze, Jimi

Just more manic depression, Jimi

Just more ‘machine guns’

Our dreams to fly sky high

Yeah what about them?

We do fly; we fly to drop them bombs

We fly higher to drop bigger bombs

In space with the entire world in view

It is all doomed

Is this globalization?

The air covers the earth

The water sustains life with it

Mustard gas in the air

Oil in the sea

Our seas turn into toxic waste

Our lands are slowly turning into gas chambers

We can’t blame it on the Nazis this time around, Joe

We can’t bomb Japan

We just rot and feel the reek of hatred

Slowly but surely

In our minds

In our bodies

We are the cause

We are the victims

We are the chemical generation

World wide genocide.
